Louise Cannon
Overture 2025/2026 Cohort
Louise is a passionate dance and theatre educator based in Somerset, dedicated to empowering young people through creativity. She believes dance can be a central force in a young person’s development and her practice focuses on building confidence, nurturing self-worth, and creating safe, accessible spaces for all. With a background in Musical Theatre, Louise trained at Performance Preparation Academy and Guildford School of Acting before shifting her focus towards the dance industry. She now works as the Lead Dance Teacher at Wells Cathedral School and is a certified Rambert Grades contemporary teacher. Her work spans education, youth theatre and community dance, with a strong focus on choreographing productions and dance theatre, often in collaboration with youth orchestras. Louise’s choreographic work celebrates the voices and stories of young people, offering them tools to explore identity, belonging and connection through movement. She sees dance not only as an art form, but as a vital space for young people to be seen and heard. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue building her creative portfolio and becoming a more visible voice within the wider dance community.
