Jonny Hibbs

Overture 2025/2026 Cohort

Jonny is exploring choreography after training at London Studio Centre on the contemporary pathway. Since graduating, Jonny has returned to LSC to make work on 2nd year students and teach, he has choreographed for students on the Swindon CAT Programme (Exeter) as well as work on his own freelance projects with professional dancers in London and Devon. Jonny’s interest in joining Overture was from wanting some guidance in connecting and developing the rural dance community on Dartmoor National Park, where he is from. Recently, Jonny set up ‘Pugmill Dance & Co.’, an inter-disciplinary company, which is in it’s very early stages. The company makes work in music, dance and theatre.

Jonny’s work as a practitioner in communities currently focuses on artist development for young people, as well as creating opportunities in the South West of the UK for dance artists from the area, so that there are more opportunities to return home to after training. On Dartmoor, he works with a young theatre company and enjoys exploring how he can prioritise equipping young people with skillsets that will support them in their creative careers, whilst also delivering in a playful, fun and energising environment that keeps young people enthusiastic about dance, theatre and the arts.

Jonny looks forward to using Overture as a springboard to network sideways, meet other practitioners elsewhere in the UK and champion each-other’s diverse work in dance.
