Holly Durant
Community Dance Artist
Overview
Since graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts Holly has collaborated & worked with many luminary choreographers, performers and artists.
From 2008, Holly has been a core-performer with award winning company Finucane & Smith, creating a body of contemporary post burlesque performance art and dance and touring extensively nationally and internationally. She is also a founding member of Rogue Collective, whose work The Counting in collaboration with Antony Hamilton was nominated for a Green Room award.
Self-devised works include Up to my Eyes, Ocular Proof and Untitled Solo, respectively performed at the Next Wave Festival, Dance Massive, Lucy Guerin’s Pieces for Small Spaces and Modafe dance festival in Korea. A continued interest in the body and its relationship to design led Holly to found dance/design duo HoRo with Rob McCredie in 2011, completing a series of residencies in Paris, London & Sydney exploring the collisions & intersections of dance and design.
In 2012 she received an Ian Potter cultural trust grant to travel to a number festivals and take an artistic residency at PAF (Performing Arts Forum) in France, fostering a continuing collaborative relationship with French Filmmaker, Prisca Lobjoy.
Curatorial work includes Dance & Death, at Grant Street Theatre, presenting 18 artists in an immersive night of performance and R/E/Volve, commissioned by Dark Mofo and Supple Fox. This collaborative relationship continued in 2016 with Levitate-mate and Hexagontron – two new dance pieces with 40 volunteer performers as part of Dark Mofo.
