Community Response Piece
Overview
As part of our Swan Lake tour, we worked with Farnham Maltings, Surrey Libraries and dance artist Paul Smethurst over a several weeks to co-create an original movement piece, exploring themes of isolation, queer ecology, unlocking your true self and finding your flock.
A background in dance was not necessary to take part, and the result was a movement piece created and performed by a cross-generational LGBTQ+ community in Surrey, alongside dance artist Paul Smethurst. During the course of the project, participants worked with New Adventures dance artists to create a safe space in which they could connect in a meaningful way. Sessions were diverse and collaborative and included costume making and movement. 'The Flock' was then performed at Farnham Maltings and Farnham Library.

Previous Productions
In 2024, as part of our Edward Scissorhands tour, we worked with Farnham Maltings, Surrey Libraries and Woking Borough Council to create an original movement performance with LGBTQ+ adults. The piece entitled 'The Othered' was based on the themes of inclusion, exclusion, community and difference that are explored in the show.
