Cinderella Access Weekender
We believe that dance is for everyone. In January 2027 we are celebrating all things access in a weekend of back-to-back accessible performances, workshops, and touch tours at Sadlers Wells.
Saturday 9 January kicks off with an Audio Described performance by Caroline Burn of Talking Theatre for our blind and partially-sighted audience members and their companions. She will lead an extended backstage touch tour featuring key elements from the 1940s set, costumes and an audio described demonstration of motifs by one of our dancers, who performs the role of the Angel.
On Sunday 10 January, the day starts with sensory workshops for all abilities, ages and learning styles. They explore the characters and themes of the show through movement, games, and the unique storytelling techniques of New Adventures. They are suitable for people who may be on the autism spectrum, have sensory sensitivities, epilepsy, learning disabilities and/or difficulties, or experience neurodiversity. Throughout the day we host ten minute what-to-expect sessions which introduce audiences to key sounds, cast members and characters, and effects featured in the show. We offer a wide range of access resources to aid your enjoyment of the day. Our Associate Artistic Director opens the show with a short introduction which will be BSL interpreted and captioned.
Booking for the Cinderella Access Weekender will open soon.
About Sensory Adapted Performances
These performances are an extension of a relaxed performance. Our adaptations create a friendly, supportive and less formal environment.
They are suitable for those who may be on the autism spectrum, have sensory sensitivities, epilepsy, learning disabilities and/or difficulties, experience neurodiversity, and anyone that might benefit from a more supportive environment.
We encourage audiences to be kind and respectful to one another, in keeping with the spirit of the performance.
