24 August 2016

On Saturday 10 September 2016 the Dizzy Feet Foundation held their annual fundraising event at The Novo, in Los Angeles, California at LA Live. The Dizzy Feet Foundation was set up to improve and increase access to dance education in the United States through grants, which support programs serving low-income populations and educational institutions working with talented individuals.

This year at the Dizzy Feet Foundation’s Celebration of Dance Gala Matthew Bourne was presented with The Gene Kelly Legacy Award by Gene Kelly’s widow, Patricia Ward Kelly, honouring Matthew’s services to dance. As part of the evening Marcelo Gomes, who has danced in New Adventures productions, including most recently The Car Man, and Arron Scott from American Ballet Theatre flew in specially to perform an excerpt from Matthew’s Swan Lake (pictured below). The event also featured performances from Sergei Polunin, New York City Ballet’s Tyler Peck and a “Legend Award” presented to Musical star, Mitzi Gaynor.
