ETTA AND NINA TAKE MANHATTAN!
Posted on Saturday 19 September 2009
New Adventures Associate Artist Etta Murfitt and Principle dancer, Nina Goldman offered Matthew Bourne repertory workshops and technique classes for the first time this Summer at The Peridance Centre in New York City. Participants were treated to creative workshops based on Swan Lake, The Car Man and Edward Scissorhands.
Here they share their thoughts about the experience....
“.....the "New Adventures" workshop you all taught was easily the best workshop I took this summer.”
“We were assigned some of the same tasks that had been used to create rep! These were open ended, but also in a sense proven. The assignments had extra relevance, because they had already been fruitful in the company's rehearsal process. I think this was great.”
“The fact that we learned such diverse repertoire is also wonderful.”

“I found the workshop really inspiring.”
“I learned that being really open and vulnerable to the process helps open us to creativity.”

“...you created a very supportive and nurturing environment.”
“...you gave us a wonderful journey...”

“I was enormously enriched, expended and challenged by the work you did with us.”

“The best thing you can hope for in a workshop is that it pushes you to do something you haven't done before! Thank you for that push and for a wonderful environment to make these discoveries!”

“I want to thank you again for a very inspiring week, it was refreshing to move and create in such a relaxed and positive space.”
“It was fun to be invited into the same process that Mr. Bourne uses in creating his works.”
“Now I know the importance of give and take... I learned a lot about myself and the areas upon which I can improve on.”
“It was inspiring to see how different and creative everyone could be by watching each other's work.”
“Thank you for instilling greater confidence in myself.”
