MATTHEW BOURNE’S
DORIAN GRAY
AT THE 2010
MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS THEATRE AWARDS
It was announced today that New Adventures have won the 2010 Manchester Evening News Award for Best Dance production for Matthew Bourne’s Dorian Gray.
New Adventures beat off stiff competition from Akram Khan’s Bahok and Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Romeo and Juliet as well as New Adventures second nomination in the same category for Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella!
This award marks the company’s fourth win at the Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards, having previously won for Edward Scissorhands, Play Without Words and The Car Man.
Matthew Bourne said today "New Adventures is primarily a touring company with a wide and loyal audience, nowhere more so than at The Lowry Theatre in Salford. This is why the MEN Awards are especially important to us, and we were indeed honoured to be nominated twice in this category for both Cinderella and Dorian Gray. The award to Dorian Gray is personally very gratifying to me, as it was a new and daring departure for my company, going on to become one of our most popular, acclaimed and talked about productions. Thank you to the Manchester Evening News for recognising that and to the incredible audiences at The Lowry that came to see it"
OLIVIER NOMINATION
for
MATTHEW BOURNE’s CINDERELLA
Today’s award comes in the same week as the New Adventures production of Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella was nominated for the Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production for its recent Christmas season at Sadler’s Wells. A five time Olivier award winner, this is Matthew Bourne’s 12th nomination. Cinderella was seen by over 100,000 people during its run at the London venue, breaking all box office records to become the most successful show ever produced in the history of Sadler’s Wells. Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella is currently on a UK tour. Visit www.new-adventures.net for tour venues.
