DORIAN TRIUMPHS AT RAVENNA FESTIVAL
Posted on Saturday 20 June 2009

New Adventures DORIAN GRAY triumphed at last nights Italian premiere performance, as part of the Ravenna Festival at the historic Teatro Alighieri.
Having completed the rehearsed curtain call, the dancers returned to their dressing rooms, only to be called back to recieve an ovation from the glittering first night audience, who had remained in the auditorium, clapping and chearing, after the house lights had come up.
Matthew Bourne commented "This has never happened before. The company were shocked and delighted at the enthusiasm of the Italian audience. Normally our curtain calls are very well rehearsed and set, but this is the first time I can remember dancers being called back to the stage by an audience who would not stop clapping. We were completely taken by suprise"
Performances continue tonight and tomorrow, before moving onto The Palma Festival next week.
