CINDERELLA played it's 204th and final performance of it's current tour, last Sunday night (10th July 2011) at The Mosovet Theatre in Moscow, as part of The Chekhov International Theatre Festival.
It is NEW ADVENTURES 4th visit to the Festival, where the company has built up a massive following, this time playing a record 16 performances.
During our visit the Company were invited to attend a rehearsal of Wayne McGregor's CHROMA with THE BOLSHOI BALLET. Matthew Bourne made a pligrimage to Tchaikovsky's Summer house at Klin and the entire company enjoyed the sights of Moscow from Red Square, to the Kremlin, to the delicious patisserie at The Pushkin Cafe and the extra-ordinary Art Nouveau home of one of Russia's most beloved writers, Pushkin.
Our performances were attended by many actors from the Moscow Arts Theatre and dancers from the Bolshoi, as well as The Bolshoi's new Director, Sergei Filin.
Cinderella has been seen by over 240,000 people since November, including our 8 week sell-out London season, our most successful UK Tour to date and International dates in Holland, Italy and Russia. It was nominated for both The Olivier Award and The Manchester Evening Award for Best New Dance Production and is the most successful single season of a production ever staged at Sadlers Wells Theatre.
The Company now takes a Summer break, but many of the Cinderella company will return in October to start rehearsals for our 20th Anniversary production of NUTCRACKER!.... Watch this space for casting details very soon!
