10 July 2009
Dear Friend of New Adventures

Update following the Extraordinary General Meeting

On behalf of the Committee of the Friends of New Adventures I am writing to you following the EGM and our subsequent Committee meeting to keep you all up-dated.

1. As outlined in the EGM mail-out letter in order for the Friends to move to the new structure we had to wind up the current Friends organisation. The motions were agreed at the EGM (resolutions were passed with two abstentions and none against) which means that the Friends of New Adventures has been wound up with effect from Monday 18th May 2009. Notices to this effect have been placed in the London Gazette and Dancing Times.

2. Any members paying subscriptions by standing order are asked to cancel them with immediate effect.

3. We are unable directly to transfer your contact details to the Company without your explicit consent. I would just like to remind you that if you haven’t joined the Company’s New Adventures Friends mailing list already you can do so by clicking on the mailing list area of the New Adventures website (www.new-adventures.net). If you do not have access to electronic mailing, please contact the Company (New Adventures Office, Sadlers Wells Theatre, Rosebery Avenue, London EC1R 4TN) to receive information by post.

4. As Michael Buckingham mentioned at the EGM, his computer was affected by a virus and he has been unable to recover an accurate version of the Friends of New Adventures database. Hence we are sending this letter out to those Friends whose email contacts we do have, plus including it on the New Adventures web-site and posting it to the 43 Friends who have asked to receive future information by post. Because of this complication the Committee thought that it was not practicable to send out a final newsletter. Any information that Ken McEwan had gathered has been sent to New Adventures for inclusion on the web-site and any future Company postal mail-out.

5. As Friends had given so generously to the June Bourne New Works Fund, the committee decided to award £2500 towards the duet Matthew had generously provided for Chris Marney’s Hotel Follies at the Arts Theatre 26th-30th August (www.hotelfollies.com). The programme will note the dedication in memory of June.

6. The balance of funds, which is likely to be in the region of £4500 (after winding up costs have been taken out) will be donated to re:bourne (the educational programme of New Adventures).

If you have any further enquiries or would like a copy of the EGM minutes please do not hesitate to contact us.

The Committee of the Friends of New Adventures thank you for your generous and loyal support over the years. We hope that you will continue to support New Adventures in the future.

With best regards,

Linda Almond (Chair)

On behalf of Friends of New Adventures Committee
